What's the difference between Standard, Studio, and Pro?
Standard is the booking + billing + parent-share table — that's the product live today at R 149/month. Studio adds the assessment suite (question bank, test builder, mock exams, score tracking, parent reports) for tutors whose practice is exam prep — R 249/month. Pro adds built-in video conferencing with recordings on top of Studio — R 399/month. Each tier includes everything in the tier below.
When will Studio and Pro launch?
Studio is next on the roadmap — once we have a few months of Standard usage from real tutors so we know we're solving the right assessment problems. Pro follows after that. Join the waitlist on either tier card and we'll email you the moment it's ready, with early-access pricing for waitlist members.
How is this different from a WhatsApp group + a spreadsheet?
WhatsApp groups don't have status fields, invoice PDFs, or income summaries. Spreadsheets don't survive a tutor changing laptops. Tafela centralises bookings, billing, and parent comms so the lookups stop being a scavenger hunt.
Do parents need to create an account?
No. Each parent gets a single bookmarkable URL. They open it, see their child's schedule, attendance, notes (when you opt in), and invoices. Zero login, zero friction.
Is my students' data safe?
Yes. Every record is row-level-security scoped to your tutor account in our Postgres database. POPIA-aware: when an admin views a tutor's account they see aggregate counts only — never student names or specific lesson details.
What if I cancel?
You keep access through the end of your paid period. After that we keep your data for 30 days in case you come back, then it's removed. Export your students/parents/invoices as CSV from settings any time.
Do you support PayFast / EFT / Yoco?
Today: manual EFT — invoices include your bank details and a reference. You mark them paid when the deposit clears. PayFast checkout integration is on the roadmap; let us know if it would tip you over.
How does the referral month work?
When a tutor friend signs up, mentions your name (or you email us with theirs), and pays for their second month, both of you get one month credited toward your next invoice. Capped at 6 free months lifetime per account.
What about WhatsApp reminders?
Email reminders are live — 30 minutes after a lesson ends, you get a one-click email to mark it complete. WhatsApp Business reminders to parents are next on the roadmap. The infrastructure (Resend, templates) is already in place.
Can I import my existing student list?
Right now you add them manually — most independent tutors have 5–25 students which takes a tea-break. Bulk CSV import is on the roadmap. Reach out if it's a blocker for you.
